Gary Poole, a 60-year-old truck driver from Waynesboro, Mississippi, was killed early Thursday morning in a crash involving two commercial vehicles on Interstate 10 East near Vinton, Louisiana, according to Louisiana State Police. Authorities said the crash occurred shortly after 1 a.m. when Poole’s tractor-trailer struck the rear of another 18-wheeler. The force of the impact caused the load to shift forward into the cab. Poole was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other driver was not injured. The crash remains under investigation, and standard toxicology samples were collected as part of the process.

The trucking community pauses to remember Gary Poole, a driver who spent his life behind the wheel, moving America one mile at a time. Like so many others, he climbed into his truck expecting another routine run, never knowing it would be his last. Our deepest condolences go out to his family, friends, and fellow drivers during this difficult time. May he find peace beyond the final weigh station, and may his miles on the road never be forgotten.
