A 31-year-old truck driver, identified by Louisiana State Police as Travion Miller of Coushatta, Louisiana, was killed in a tragic crash early Monday morning on Interstate 49 near Asseff Road in DeSoto Parish. According to investigators, Miller was traveling north in a 2024 Mack around 3:40 a.m. when, for reasons still under investigation, the truck veered off the roadway. The rig struck an unoccupied parked vehicle, climbed an embankment, and overturned. State Police report that impairment is not suspected, though standard toxicology tests are pending, and seatbelt use is still being determined.
Authorities say they are continuing to investigate what caused the truck to leave the roadway, including potential mechanical issues, medical emergency, fatigue, or road conditions at the time of the crash. Miller was pronounced dead at the scene. Our deepest condolences go out to his family, friends, and fellow drivers mourning this sudden loss. The trucking community is once again reminded of how quickly danger can unfold on the highway and how important it is to look out for one another out there.
